Emily Carpenter M.S., CCC-SLP: A Therapist Spotlight

What brought you to The Speech Spot?

My friend Kristen, another therapist at The Speech Spot, reached out to me when the company was looking to expand and hire more therapists. I had always been interested in working at a private practice due to the flexibility it provides and the unique opportunity it allows to build a close relationship with a clients family. I had heard great things about the company from Kristen. After initially meeting with one of the owners, Liz, I knew I wanted to be a part of the Speech Spot. I have been loving it so far.

Do you have any areas of special interest?

What initially drew me into the field was when a Speech Language Pathologist spoke in my high school psychology class about speech and language development. Early language development remains one of the areas I find most interesting and exciting in the field. Additionally, I am interested in working with and utilizing Alternative-Augmentative Communication (AAC) devices. During graduate school, I worked in our AAC lab and gained experience programming devices and communicating with company representatives.

What's your favorite part about being a speech therapist?

I love the relationships I build with my clients and families, and seeing the small steps of progress clients make from session to session.

What's your favorite children's book?

The Rainbow Fish - I loved it as a child, and now I love using it in my therapy sessions.

Lightning round....

Harry Potter or Disney?

Harry Potter

Beach or Mountains?

Sweet or Salty?

Can I have both?

Starbucks, all day! or Coffee, no way!

We are so grateful Emily joined our team! Your dedication to your clients is evident in every session! Thank you!
