Kate Robertson, M.A., CCC-SLP: A Therapist Spotlight

What brought you to The Speech Spot?

I was a stay-at-home mom to 2 kids at the time and wanted to slowly get back into the speech/language therapy world. I missed working with kids on their speech and language needs. I wanted a flexible schedule and loved the clinic setting. Liz was so friendly and welcoming the second I met her, I knew she’d be a great colleague (and was I ever right!). I love the small clinic setting and the families I have worked with are amazing! The Speech Spot is a true gem.

Do you have any areas of special interest?

Although I really enjoy working with all kids, I have a special love working with preschool aged kids and children with autism.

What's your favorite part about being a speech therapist?

I love working with children and seeing them finally achieve a goal we are targeting! There’s so much joy in my heart seeing a child finally master a specific sound, using words (instead of gestures or negative behaviors) to communicate, and using conversational skills to interact. I also enjoy getting to play, color, dance and play games for work-a true kid at heart!

What's your favorite children's book?

Dr. Seuss and Angelina Ballerina

Lightening round....

Harry Potter or Disney?

Disney!

Beach or Mountains?

Beach

Sweet or Salty?

Sweet (my favorite food is ice cream!)

Starbucks, all day! or Coffee, no way!

Starbucks - nothing like a delicious coffee to start the day.

When you aren't in the therapy room, what keeps you busy?

My 3 children. I also enjoy running, traveling, reading and enjoying fun things all around St. Louis.

We are so lucky to have Kate with us here at The Speech Spot! Kate's passion for helping kids and families is evident in every session she holds! Thank you for all that you do, Kate!
